Cypress Provincial Park
During the summer months Cypress Provincial Park offers a number of hiking trails and lookouts from which to observe the over 120 species of bird that have been spotted in the park. Gray Jay’s are a firm favourite for visitors to the park, while other alpine species such as the Black and Vaux’s Swift are more elusive but still spectacular to spot. During fall, the high elevation and vantage points of the park provide an excellent view of migrating raptors such as Red-Tailed, Cooper’s and Sharp-shinned hawks. As you hike, the forests are busy with the sounds of vireos, flycatchers and warbler’s, and it is not uncommon to encounter a Sooty Grouse on your travels.
